CITU

The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) is a national trade union federation in India. It is the largest trade union federation in the country, with over 7 million members. The CITU is affiliated with the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC).

The CITU was founded in 1970 by a group of trade unions that were opposed to the policies of the Indian National Congress government. The CITU’s founding principles are based on Marxism-Leninism and the belief that the working class can only achieve its emancipation through socialism.
