| Special care is taken to select a native translator well acquainted with translation for dubbing. After the translation is ready, the translated script is checked for issues such as acceptability in the target language, tricky expressions for which an exact equivalent may not be available in the target language and Culture-bound objects / behaviors which can pose a problem. |
| | | Step 2 : Adjustment of lip synchronization | | | | Dubbing requires strict adherence to lip-synchronization. In order to seem "natural" or authentic, the performed translation is matched, as closely as possible to the lip movements of the speaker on the screen. | | | | Step 3 : Recording in the Dubbing Studio | | |
| The dubbing director selects suitable actors for the assignment. While selecting the actors, care is taken to achieve equivalence in extra-linguistic features of voice, especially gender and age. Effort is made to match other markers of speech such as personality, class, and ethnicity ( though this part is difficult because these features are not universally available or comparable). Compatibility of the dubber's voice with the facial and body expressions visible on the screen is also checked for. |
